Our mind cannot differentiate between what’s real and what’s not. This can be explained with a variation of the placebo experiment. Patients, diagnosed with the same illness, were divided into two groups. Knee surgeries were done on the first group of patients while with the permission of their families, fake surgeries with just three insertion were done on the second group. When the results came, both group of patients said “No more pain!”. The faith that these people had, that an operation was done on their knees, was set as a reality for them and their mind itself treated for their illness.

It is very simple to trick our mind, magicians often do it. And whether it be hypnosis, where the person sees spiders crawling over their body, or the fact that we wake up terrified after having a nightmare, our mind believes everything as reality. Then why not use that for our own advantage? We can feed our mind with fake memories or imaginations, which our subconscious mind accepts as reality. Visualizing a future event on our mind, prepares both mind and body for that particular event. If I had prepared my mind to fail for an exam, even after learning everything I had to, guess what?

Our mind is our fortress of solitude. In here, we can create anything we want. However, 90% of our lives are controlled by unawareness, AKA the subconscious mind. While having a drive back home, we often lose track of ourselves (not time) and realize that we are somewhere else from what we last remembered. The subconscious mind does most of our actions, says most of the things and creates most of our thoughts. But the problem with subconscious mind is that it is limited to its knowledge. It can only perform what it has learnt and we, ourselves are its teacher. It is the duty of a teacher to guide a student who is on the wrong path. If your subconscious mind is in the wrong path, most of the time you wouldn’t be even aware about it. Then how to guide it in the proper path? Give it what a teacher is supposed to do, guide it!

You should have an awareness of yourself, that your life is being controlled by your subconscious mind. When your subconscious mind take you to a mental state where you are having negative thoughts, be AWARE about it and just accept it. Accept the fact that you are having negative thoughts and guide your mind to a peaceful state, this is not impossible. You have full control over your mind and you can create any thought, happy or sad, any time you want. However, for those of you who wish to remain in the depressed mental state, I’m none to judge.

This principle of mind can also be applied to change our lives. As long as your subconscious mind does not know how it feels to be doing that new job, or the feeling one has while performing their magnum opus on the stage, it will not let you achieve that and you may find other less efficient ways. If you have a goal, don’t let even your own idiotic mind to talk you out of it, it does not know until you guide it. Feed it with knowledge that it doesn’t know, by creating and living that feeling of achievement on your mind. If your mind and body is not ready to accept the future, how can you say to have that? Prepare yourself for future, by living it this moment. In your mind, no one else matters, it is only you and how you want your life to manifest.
