In today’s chapter we are going to talk about the Major Arcana. Major Arcana are the trump cards of a tarot deck. They Represent the Major journey of the Psyche from the fool numbered 00 to the World numbered 21. The journey of the Psyche can be represented as a cycle.

Consider a circle with 21 line segments. Like a clock, the Journey starts from 00, 01, 02 and will end at 21. But the fun fact is, 21 = 00, which basically means that where 21 ends, 00 begins for the next cycle. Journey of Life, can be considered as such cycles of the Psyche. This cycle, can also be called Karma. It is the person themselves who go through the Journey in Mind and Reality, and accumulate the experiences for the same.

Major Arcana cards also represent the 22 Archetype within a person. These cards are extremely powerful and should not be taken lightly in a reading When a Major Arcana card shows up in a reading, it basically means there are some major incidents happening in life. These Major incidents may be pushing a person forward, or dragging them down. Each Major Arcanum depicts a scene, mostly featuring a person or several people, with many symbolic elements. By the 19th century, the tarot came to be regarded as a “bible of bibles”, an esoteric repository of all the significant truths of creation.

21 The World

From the next chapter onwards, we will start learning about the Major cards starting from the Fool to the World.
