We often tend to share our problems with others and expect a solution from them. How often does this solution turn out to be the right one? That person can give you a solution, only if they have experienced the same as you did. You don’t need to look further for anyone with the same experience, it’s YOURSELF! None better than yourself can understand your problems and provide a solution for the same. The best way to get a solution is to talk to yourself. Understand what the problem is and find a solution that you think is the best. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be the best, you will not have anyone else to blame. On the brighter side, you’ll have another experience on top of which you can build more.
It is kind of odd to talk to yourselves, but if you can’t, do the next best thing. Share it with anyone you feel comfortable with. But don’t expect a solution in return. Our mind can work wonders. Have you ever experienced a scenario where after saying/doing something you immediately regret it? You’ll keep that instant in mind and will make sure it won’t happen again. In this scenario, the mind wanted to express what it wanted as the mind is in an emotional state. Your IQ will be lower during this period and your mind won’t be able to process anything rationally. The moment your mind feels that the burden is off your chest, it will start to work rationally again.
There is only one method via which you can keep your mind under control, but people never take it seriously. You guessed it, Meditation! Our mind doesn’t want to spend more time focusing on one thing. Studies have shown that an average human being gets distracted every 40 seconds when working in front of a computer. And it takes another 20 minutes to get back into the work you were doing. This highly impacts college students and IT sector employees.
We always say that time is money, well time is not money, Attention is! Take an example of a classroom. All students spend the same time in the class listening to lectures but yet, some students get very good marks while some others get poor ones. Although all of them spent the same time listening to the same lecture, only a few gave attention to it while others spend their time daydreaming. Another study shows that an average human being spends 40% of their time daydreaming. Yes, if you are a 30 year old adult, you have only used 18 years of your life productively. The rest 12 years, well you know what you were dreaming of.
The way meditation works is, it helps the mind to focus on things. Breathing is the most boring thing anyone can come across. Try to observe your breathing for 2 minutes without an interruption. Not as easy as it sounds, is it? The proper way to meditate is to sit up straight, if you lie down you may fall asleep. You have to cut off any distraction and focus on your breathing. There are tons of free tutorials which tell you how to meditate. If you can spend 10 minutes meditating everyday, you can take control of the wonders done by your mind.
